"-served as private, Second Ulster Regt 1780- m. Elizabeth DuBois (17 Sep 1761-19 Mar 1855), daughter of
Zachariah DuBois (31 Oct 1734-10 Apr 1783), tavern keeper on Murderer's (Moodna) Creek (Salisbury Mills), and 
Antie (Annie) Van Duzer (9 Dec 1738- ), daughter of Isaac Van Deuser. John is said to have been tavern keeper 
at Rock Tavern, later Scotchtown (his inn was just east of Houston's) -buried Scotchtown. Zachariah DuBois had 
been a Major in Colonel Jesse Woodhull's regiment and was captured by the British at the battle of Fort Montgomery 
(6 Oct 1777). He was exchanged for the British Colonel Moncrief 10 months later. See the historical novel Perilous 
Night by Burke Boyce (1942) ."1 This would mean Annie Van Duzer is Leah Van Duzer's sister (John and Elizabeth first cousins).
